Krishna, considered as one of Lord Vishnu's most glorious incarnations, is popularly known as a mischievous child, a fascinating flute-player, an enthused cowherd, a destroyer of demons, a divine lover and a clever diplomat - all rolled in one. He was an ideal son, brother, disciple, friend and husband. Lord Krishna represents the total power of magnetism or 'Aakarshana Shakti': infinite attraction. He is the source of joy and since he lived in luxury throughout his life, the Krishna Jayanti celebrations are also held on a grand scale with splendour and glory.
Purpose of Krishna’s BirthWhen Mother Earth, unable to bear the burden of the tyranny of the evil forces appealed to Lord Brahma, He sought the grace of Lord Vishnu to set up righteousness on the earth. Vishnu assured Brahma that He will soon appear on the earth to liberate the people from the shackles of unjust and despotic rule. Vishnu took birth on the 8th day in the Waning Moon phase in the Vedic month of Avani – (August/September) when the ruling star (nakshatra) of the day was Rohini. Krishna’s Birthday symbolizes an end to evil forces like depression, sloth, doubts and apprehensions.
In the opening section of the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna said:
“Whenever, O descendant of Bharata (earth plane), righteousness declines and unrighteousness prevails, I manifest Myself. For the protection of the righteous, the destruction of the wicked, and for the establishment of religion, I come into being from age to age.”
Krishna is against sufferings and pain of all forms and is compassionate towards his devotees. Brahma addressed Lord Krishna as Acyuta, meaning eternal, who is never vague of the service and devotion rendered by His devotees.
The Power of Love is the highest and will dissolve your pain and bring forth your best qualities. Lord Krishna’s intuitive and divine guidance (popularly known as ‘Gita’) to warrior Arjuna is considered to be the beacon of light which guides millions of humans across several yugas or Vedic time periods. He is an epitome of perfection and symbolizes selfless love, dharma, friendship and kindness.
A story goes that once Krishna humbly accepted puffed rice brought by his childhood friend Kusela, and in turn gave him great riches. In the same way, this Krishna Jayanti can empower your commitment for bringing remarkable changes in your life.
Lord Krishna had provided a concept for human living, when He was here 5000 years ago and that is perfect health, relationship, wealth and perfect youth. Radha and Krishna represented perfection and during this Janmashtami, we are going to celebrate it.
His remembrance brings extreme happiness and delight because He himself was a manifestation of joy at all levels and in all walks of life. Krishna Jayanti can inspire you to exhibit leadership in all spheres of your life and create a life of achievement.
