Shravan Purnima is very much auspicious to worship Hayagriva. But, the regular prayer on the ‘Thiruvonam' nakshatra of all month is considered to be more auspicious to attain knowledge and wisdom. He can be pleased easily with the regular chanting of Hayagriva slokha
‘Gnaanandamayam DEvam Nirmala Spadikaakrutham Aadhaaram Sarva vidhyaanaam Hayagreevam UpaasmahE’
With this mantra chanting, the devotee can offer coconut, fruits, flowers, and Matt Udupi as naivaidyam (offering of a sweet dish made of Bengal grams, milk, jaggery, and coconut).
Recipe of Matt Udupi
Hayagriva Jayanthi’s special naivaidyam (offering) recipe is as follows:
Ingredients:
Bengal gram -1 cup
Milk – 2 cup
Jaggary – 1 cup
Coconut – 1 cup
Ghee – ½ cup
Procedure
Soak the Bengal gram in water for an hour and then grind it and keep it aside
Heat the milk and a deep fry pan
Once the milk become somewhat thick, mix the bengal gram paste to it and stir it well to avoid lumps
Now, add the jaggery, coconut and a pinch of cardamom power
Reduce the flame and add ghee, stir it well and turn off the stove
